Come out and Play !

CWG.

Did you just smirk, or laugh?

“God knows what’s gonna happen?”,
“It has become a joke! Games Village. Literally. Ha-ha!”
Facebook status updates have been filled with such sarcastic criticisms.
I was pretty much of the same opinion.

The politicians have made a joke out of the whole event .

6.7 billion dollars, most expensive Commonwealth Games if I’m right.
One wonders where all the money went.
Oh, we all know where it went, don’t we?

The world, again, found a reason to point its finger at our hygiene conditions, poor infrastructure, security fiasco and failure to meet deadlines.
They carried out sting operations, many of the best performers backed out.
Expected, isn’t it?

Now let’s stop all the media hammered negative thinking, and think on your own.

What is the Commonwealth Games about?
Is it about how awesome the stadium is, how good the bridges are and how many million dollars were spent?
Yes, the conditions are supposed to be up to the mark and, our politicians will never get better.
But is that the main motive behind organising CWG?

A sporting competition bringing together the members of the British Empire was first proposed by the Reverend Astley Cooper in 1891 when he wrote an article in The Times suggesting a "Pan-Britannic-Pan-Anglican Contest and Festival every four years as a means of increasing the goodwill and good understanding of the British Empire".

It’s about the Games!
How many of us know the Indians representing the events?
Sushil Kumar (Wrestling) , Tejaswini Sawant (Shooting), Tarundeep Rai and Rahul Banerjee(Archery), M.C.Mary Kom(Boxing). these all are Gold medal winners.
Arjun Atwal, Saina Nehwal. . . Need I name more?
And many Indian athletes are at top of their form than ever before.
We have some real good performers to bank upon.

And we, the people of India instead of supporting them, are criticizing the whole event.

These are the people that deserve attention.NOT the dismal performers, namely the committee headed by Mr.Kalmadi who bought a sham to the event.
We just blog and talk about the shoddy work by the politicians.
How about being a bit enthusiastic for the sports people who are representing our country out there?

Let’s rest the whole fracas and cheer for our country.
That’s what we Indians are best at.
Hope and believe even in the direst of conditions, that the things will be just right.
And they will. :)
